Edamame: Healthy Snacks!

Hey everyone! I thought I`d share my thoughts on edamame. What is edamame? It`s just a fancy word for fresh green soybeans. lol Anyways, I`ve been serving at my second job for a while now but I`ve never actually tried this myself. So I went to to the Asian market and picked me up a bag in the freezer section.

I must say......the restaurants are making a HUGE profit from selling this stuff! It`s only $1.49 where I live for a huge bag where I can get to large bowls of boiled edamame! The restaurant I work for occasionally sell each bowl for $5!! Crazy right? Anyways, this is totally off topic. LOL

All you have to do is boil these pods for about five minutes. You can salt them or not. They were a little bland for me so i dipped the pods in sweet and sour sauce. The texture is similar to boiled peanuts. It`s super healthy, low in calories, and packed with nutrients and antioxidants. You can see detailed nutrition info here:


These aren`t bad at all, although I thought they would have a little more flavor. I ate half a bag in one sitting (which is a fairly large bowl) while I was studying in the the middle of the night. Although I`ve heard of some people actually eating the ENTIRE pod itself, which isn`t what you`re suppose to do. lol So please, don`t try that at home. You`re going to end up with a mouth full of icky.
