Even having curly hair, I was never able to Scrunch my hair. My hair is so thick, that the gel would weigh it down.
First you want your hair to be damp. If you shower at night just braid it or put in it a really tight bun. You can also dampen it in the morning. I also suggest combing your hair in the shower, and not brushing it when you get out to keep any natural curl.
Now, I put in Aussie Sprunch Spray. I call it a curling hairspray because thats basically what it is. It adds curl to your hair and holds in.
Next, you scrunch. This is a really long process! I`m not sure how to explain it, but You basically get a chunk of your hair in your hand, bring it up towards your head, than squeeze and do it for the rest of your hair. The most important part is use mousse and a lot! If you think you have enough, add more. It is lightweight but will also hold your hair. My favorites are Herbal essences totally twisted curl boosting mousse, and Herbal essences toussle me softly tousling mousse.
Next, your going to blowdry your hair. You want to continue adding mousse and scrunching while blow drying, and keep the blow dryer at the bottom of your hair facing up.
That`s how I scrunch my hair or get beachy waves.
