My laptop that I`ve had for 5 years is dying. Or I guess its dead now since I took it apart. The last couple of days, after use, all of a sudden, my screen would freeze and glitch and then I end up with lines like in the top half of the picture. And it would look like that and the a screen would eventually go blank with rhw back light still on. This happened every time I powered it up again. I figured maybe I was overheating the video card so I waited till the next day to turn it back on again, but it.continued to have the lines then blank out.
So, I figured, it wouldn`t hurt to take it apart to see if my video card has actually been fried. It wasn`t, and it also wasn`t properly protected from heat. It`s apparently a very common thing go video cards to over heat with HP dv9000 series laptops as well as some other models. So because I didn`t have the proper supplies to protect my video card from heat, I was left with no choice but to wait. Hence why there is a pile of laptop guts all over my room.
I have a bunch of files that have not been backed up on my hard drive. I Googled it, and learned that you can find an adapter to open the files without a laptop. If anyone has tried this, please let me know if it worked or not.
Have any of you experienced anything like this? If you have, how did you fix it? And also, any suggestions for a good pc laptop?
