If you`re up to seeing dragon dances the best time to go is during Chinese New Year/Lunar New Year. You`ll find dragon dances everywhere and in the area I went today was Westminster, CA and all along the area you`ll encounter dragon dances. Just today when visiting, my parents & I encountered four dragon dances! A dragon dance is a traditional dance and performance that represents good luck, power, wisdom, fertility, and auspiciousness. Each dance was like fifteen minutes, I feel sorry for the guy at the end [the bottom] because he`s bigger, he has bent down most of the time & carries the lighter guy! After the performance the guys at the end are breathing like crazy. I give props to them all for remember the dances and stuff. =)
Everyone around me was saying how this dragon dance isn`t compared to how Vietnam`s dragon dance does it... it`s way better there [makes me want to visit Vietnam during the New Year, I bet it`d be crazy lol]. The fun part was the fire crackers it was super loud, I wish I brought my dslr to record it. Anyway, so after the dance at the end, one of the dragons has to reach to the top of the building to get their good luck money.
Did you get to see a dragon dance this year? How was it?
