Despite having passed by Tokyo Lobby on a bi-weekly basis for the past 20 years, this was the first time that I`ve actually stopped in. It`s a Japanese restaurant that`s located in San Gabriel. I normally just go to the plaza for Tofu House or Sam Woo and to go grocery shopping when Albertson`s still existed there. My friends called me up and said that they wanted to go there to eat so I decided to go.
Since I`ve never been there I didn`t know what to order. My friends recommended the fried chicken so I went with that. Sorry about the very red picture, it`s a very dim lit restaurant. I did take a picture of my left overs. Anyways, the portions were HUGE! My plate came with 2 slices of fried breaded chicken, shrimp and vegetable tempura, salad, miso soup (not pictured), and a bowl of rice. The chicken was really tasty. It`s not your normal fried chicken, the skin is nice and crispy but detached from the actual chicken which is juicy and flavorful. The tempura was your standard tempura. It was kind of pricey, I think like $13 for the plate but you get huge portions, I still had a good half of it as leftovers.
I`m definitely going to have to stop by again but during lunch hours when everything`s about half price. I`m glad that I was finally able to try this place out since it was pretty tasty. So have any of you ever been to Tokyo Lobby? Are you a fan of Japanese food?
