DOTD - Asian style

Finally had some time this evening to make dinner today, I haven`t had a good homecooked meal in a long time.

There`s a dish served in Chinese restaurants that involve string beans, pork and XO sauce. I really love that dish and so I decided to make another version of it for myself.

I washed the spring beans and boiled them in water mixed with Abalone and Scallop Sauce to help absorb some flavor. Then I took some frozen clams and grilled them in some Canola oil and lemon juice. The lemon juice helped take some of the fishy taste out of the clams.

Once the beans were cooked, I drained them and added them into the pan. I then made my own sauce using sweet soy sauce, garlic paste, hot XO sauce and water to the pan and let it cook for 10 minutes, until the sauce evaporated.

I then made a butter miso soup with corn and seaweed. I was actually testing out a good base soup for ramen and I love butter miso so the soup was more of an experiment.

I ended up with a pretty decent meal =) It was pretty inexpensive to cook and it was pretty good! Next time though, I think I`ll stick with minced pork as it absorbed flavor better than clam and would taste better with the beans.
