If your foundation appears to yellow or pink(red) its simply because your skin tone is neutral. In other words your skin contains an equal amount of yellow and pink(red).
The combination of yellow and pink(red) make beige. Beige can range from light to dark.
If your unsure what NC or NW stands for, this is what is means..
NC - Neutralize Cool. By adding this WARM yellow toned color you would neutralize a pink/red cool color.
NW-Neutralize Warm. By adding this COOL pink/red color you would neutralize a yellow warm color.
If you are a neutral tone, how do you make your foundation work for you? By mixing an equal amount of an NC and NW foundation, again by mixing the pink of NW and the yellow of NC you would make a beige color. Now alot of us just can`t afford to buy 2 mac foundations right? You can solve the problem by using a powder that will neutralize the unwanted tone your seeing. So if your using an NC & your skin in appearing too yellow, you`ll need an NW to add the pink and make beige. And vice versa for skin that appears to pink (NW) you`ll need an NC to add yellow and make beige.
If decide to buy both NW and NC foundation to make beige, then your powder will need to be beige as well. I know the Mineralized Skin Finish Natural are pretty neutral so there`s no prominent yellow or pink tones.
