**feel free to correct me if you think i`m not doing a great job of explaining anything**
So, for those of you who may not know, Manga is Japanese comics. They are read from right to left, and are mostly black and white. They come out in chapters of anywhere between 25-70 pages, give or take, it really depends on the author/illustrator (or "Mangaka"). a few chapters can make up a volume of work. A lot of websites "scanlate" manga by uploading it to the internet and translating it into english. This is a plus for people like me who don`t have much access to buying it, or cannot afford everything I want to read, BUT it`s not that great for the Mangaka since they do not profit from it. BUT i DO try to buy copies of my favorite works.
I started reading manga, and watching anime a year or two ago, and it`s actually something I wish I had known more about in high school. I started with wanting to watch Sailor Moon since I was OBSESSED as a kid, and just starting reading/watching more. Now, I have a hard time watching/reading older stuff since I hate how older art looks. My boyfriend introduced me to anime/manga, and actually NONE of my girl-friends read/watch so not to sound lame but I kinda feel lonely about that when i have a "WTF THAT JUST HAPPENED" moment. I usually plague my bf, or one of my friends about that and explain the whole damn scenario. It`s just not the same.
I stopped by a local comic store a couple days ago, and I was pleasantly surprised to see they had a bunch of Manga on clearance. I got vol 1 and 2 of Sand Chronicles for $2 each.
I feel like I have read/watched A LOT of popular stufff: but here are my favorites:
-Ouran High School Host Club
-Boys Over Flowers
-Kimi ni Todoke
-Kaichou Wa Maid Sama
-ok this list can keep going but basically anything with a little romance and comedy. i DID enjoy some historical/action stuff like Hakuoki and Nabari No Ou
-Vampire Knight anime was cool, but the manga storyline started to piss me off to be honest.
Do you read manga/watch anime? Any recommendations similar to anything above? Share your love!
