so i`m doing the dirty girl 5k mud run this november for breast cancer. it is unfortunately limited to female runners only and you must be at least 14 y.o. to compete. this is a non competitive run and is mostly to raise awareness. there are competitive runs where you are timed but either way i advise for beginners who want to get into fitness and have fun to do a mud run! it is a chance for you to hang out with your friends while getting some exercise. usually there are vendors after the runs that sell food and beverage (typically cash only). it is a good opportunity to meet people and imo meeting people who participate in the same sport is a great way to get more into the sport! a 5k is about 3.1 miles for those of you who are curious what the conversion is. there are mud runs hosted all around so check to see if there is one coming up near you! mud runs can range from track, trail, and obstacle running. you could be in muddy water that is waist deep or crawling above and under obstacles. i think the addition of the mud, different terrain, and obstacles it kind of takes your mind off the fact that you`re just running as sometimes that can get boring!
