DJ Pauly D is gonna have to deal with a lot of issues this summer. The reality star is facing a $4 million copyright infringement lawsuit. According to the New York Post, Paul Lis, a Connecticut based DJ who goes by the name "DJ Paulie" filed a suit against the Jersey Shore star Pauly D, MTV, as well as the companies/businesses that have contracts with him at the moment.
He says the reason why he is doing this is because he spent 40 years building his DJ name, reputation, and business and it all went down the drain. Ever since Jersey Shore made its debut on MTV, his business has suffered. Paul Lis said that thanks to him, its almost impossible to find him online. "[Lis] formally trademarked the name `DJ Paulie` and then came the `Jersey Shore` which basically wiped him off the face of the map," attorney Jose M. Rojas said.
The lawsuit alleges "The reality television show [follows] a group of young adults pursuing a debauched lifestyle suggestive of loose morals, violence, intoxication and liberal profanity -- the exact opposite of the reputation the Plaintiff, `DJ Paulie` that[sic] he had spent decades cultivating."
What do you guys think about this lawsuit? I mean Pauly/Paulie is a pretty common name and not unique. If I was a DJ, I would come up with something nice and original. This sounds kinda like a money hungry fame wh0re.
