Ive been away for the past little while, visiting New York and New Jersey for my cousins wedding, and chaperoning the youth group I mentor on their trip to Armenia! I have lots of posts to catch up on, so here we go!
First up is my trip to NY/NJ for my cousin`s wedding. I had flown out a few days early to help with some of the wedding prep.
One of the things that I was assigned was making their card box for people to leave their gifts. They had initially planned on borrowing one from the bride`s sister, but they had trouble finding it. They were thinking of renting one, but they can be unnecessarily expensive. Even a simple box was 50 dollars and up.
Instead, they ended up purchasing a hat box for 16 dollars from Michael`s with the hopes of converting it into a gift box. They also had some ribbons and faux flower garlands that they were going to use for decor, that I was given to use.
I used a craft knife and a ruler to cut a slot into the lid, and used a glue gun to wrap some thicker white ribbon around the slot to give it a neater look. The white ribbon was not as opaque as I would have wanted, so I glued some of the thinner striped ribbon on top as a trim.
I could have left it right there, since it looked great, but I decided to also add some of the white flowers to tie into the decor.
Overall, I was very proud of how well it turned out. The bride and groom loved how it looked as well, and it worked out very well.
And unlike a rental, they get to keep this box and use it for something else!
