A couple weeks ago...well during finals week. I was doing everything but the main thing I needed to do which was to study. I was looking at my mom`s old jewelry while I was talking to her. I noticed an old necklace that I haven`t seen my mother wear in a long time and idea came to mind...SLAVE BRACELET!
I have seen slave bracelets around a lot lately. I know jewelmint has come out with 2 so far. The necklace was a drop down necklace with a pendant. (Shown in the second picture).
To make the slave bracelet you need two pliers to remove the chain links. First thing I did was measure how long I wanted the bracelet to find around my are. Next I remove the extra chains on the both sides and relink the hook. Taking one of the excess chain links, I measured how much I needed to fit on my middle finger. Then I removed the pendant that was hanging off and attached the excess chain from the wrist to the middle finger. That link needs to be loose enough so that you can make your hand into a fist as well as tight enough so that the ring part doesn`t fall of your hand. Lastly, reattach the pendant and voila you have a beautiful slave bracelet.
The slave bracelet I made is from a dark metal drop necklace with red stones. It`s an edgy piece that would look nice with dark colors. I have worn it out once with black skinnies, and a dark gray top that had red accents to it.
Have you ever tried to upcycle old jewelry? Would you ever wear a slave bracelet?
