Hi everyone! With the warmer months creepy up on us, I thought it be fun to post about a dessert I recently tried.
While out at a mall in San Francisco, killing time until my sister`s theater performance that night, my mom and I decided to get a cool, sweet treat. At the food court, the place that normally does frozen yogurt was also selling Dole Pineapple Whip, a very popular treat at the Disney theme parks. Since I wasn`t going to Disneyland any time soon, and I love pineapple, this is what I got.
It was sweet and tart, cool and refreshing; I can see why this treat is so popular in the middle of summer. I didn`t want to trek into the city every time I wanted this, so I decided to try making my own at home.
What you need:
>> Pineapple juice
>> Pineapple sherbet or sorbet: sherbet is more like ice cream, as it contains dairy products; sorbet does not contain dairy. I got sherbet, which makes the overall dessert more creamy and rich. If you want something more akin to the original, try using sorbet.
>> Cup, spoon, straw
How to assemble:
>> Pour some pineapple juice into the cup
>> Scoop sherbet or sorbet into the cup
>> I usually then add a splash of juice on top of the sherbet/sorbet
This is actually similar to the original in taste, it is just a bit creamier and richer because of the dairy in the sherbet. There are also other DIY/homemade recipes for pineapple whip, but it involved mixing a bunch of ingredients and then freezing the mixture. It may taste closer to the original, but just takes more ingredients and steps.
Thanks for reading! Have you tried the pineapple whip from Disneland/world? Have you tried making your own at home?
