DIY: Chalkboard Mug!

Credit: Wit and Whistle

This is something I came across on Tumblr and I thought it was a pretty cool DIY project that was also pretty easy. I`m not the greatest crafty person so this was the perfect project for me! I decided to do this project for Mother`s Day and make my mom a chalkboard mug for her coffee. I followed the instructions from the website except I just got Martha Stewart Chalkboard Paint from Michaels instead of the special ordered one on Amazon. The thing I like about this one was that it came in different colors like black, grey, blue, and mint green so you can choose whatever chalkboard color you want. The project was super simple. I just put tape on the areas I didn`t want to paint on and just paint across the surface. I did about three layers, waiting an hour in between each. Then I let the paint sit for around 24 hours and used chalk to cover the chalkboard surface. After I wiped it off, it was done and ready! Super fast, super quick, and I loved the result! I`m going to be using this chalkboard paint in the future because I find it super cool! :)

For mine, I used the grey paint instead of black so it didn`t come out looking like the one in the picture but it actually still looked really nice. So definitely check out other colors besides black chalkboard paint if you`re looking for a little more spunk. I recommend the mint green, it`s super pretty!!

I know some of you guys were wondering where to get some nice mugs! Check out Michaels! They sell nice white porcelain mugs for only a dollar (usually). It`s the kind kids can draw on for Mother`s Day or Father`s day but I find they work perfectly for these kind of projects! :)
