Ive always loved the American Apparel pouch/clutch but I was never willing to pay the $50 for it so on Pinterest one day I saw a post about making one and then I also saw a you tube video on how to make it and I was sold! Ill attach the video that I followed so you can see how east it is to make!
For the materials I used I bought all at a fabric store and what youll need is a sewing machine, fabric sheers, pins, a strong thread (I used denim thread), a zipper, and your leather or faux leather. The material Im using is Vinyl and it comes in different colors at my fabric store so I ended up just getting this neutral tan one. You can make this any size you want but I only bought a third of a yard of fabric and I made my pouch is roughly if it was a full rectangle 12 X 16 but I stitched the corners inside out diagonally on the bottom corners so it has a diagonal corner at the bottom. Im not going to go over how I made it because you can easily see it in the video but I want to mention some differences that I did in comparison to the video. Besides stitching the bottom corner I also did not sew the zipper on like how its shown in the video. I sewed the zipper upsidedown so that you dont have raw material just sewn onto the zipper and then I also sewed the zipper down on the inside so that it doesnt pop up when opening and closing.
Its really easy to do. I dont have sewing skills at all and for this I just had to sew straight and I still sewed crooked but you just have to take your time and go slowly and dont forget to back stitch! For this whole project I only spent $10! I bought all my materials from JoAnn Fabrics and they always have a 40% off coupon so I used that.
