ACCESSORY designers Chris Liu and Tibor Matyas have launched Golden Lane, a new line of handbags for women focused on form and functionality.
"I have a passion for architecture and spend a lot of my free time wandering around the Barbican area of London where our studio is," explains head designer Liu, of the inspiration behind the inaugural Golden Lane collection, and the brand name. "I love visiting Columbia Flower Market - it`s like a flower bomb explosion of colour there. Every time I go I just want to take all the colours to the studio and design away." But, he insists: "Most importantly we wanted to create a collection that is wearable and fun".
Explaining the duo`s distinctive design comprising a double compartment satchel that comes in peppermint, blush and lemon sherbet leather, as well as eye-catching metallics, Matyas - the business strategist behind the brand - explains: "The collection is both versatile and unique in design and structure. The brand`s signature shape is the two functional separated compartments - we call it `The Duo Satchel`."
Liu and Matyas - who met while they were both working as design consultants at Burberry Prorsum - launched their eponymous male-focussed accessories line, Chris&Tibor, in 2006. The brand is now stocked in over 20 countries worldwide and has been worn by stars including David Beckham and Kanye West, and will continue to run alongside their new venture Golden Lane.
The bags - which range from £350- £465 - have already caught the eye of international buyers and are currently available at Luisa Via Roma, and from early February will be available at Barneys and http://Shopbop.com
