Dippity-do Girls With Curls Review
I picked up some of the products from the new Dippity-do haircare line for curly hair to try out. The line is called `Girls with Curls` and it caught my eye at Walmart a few weeks ago. Each of these products was on sale between 5 and 7 dollars. I have since had the opportunity to try it out (I`m about 2/3rds my way into each bottle) so I thought I would share a review.
I have tried out 3 products in the line, the shampoo, the conditioner and the curl cream.
Let`s start off with the shampoo.
I like that the shampoo is sulfate free, since sulfates are not good for any hair type, but especially curly hair since our hair is so porous. It does a good job cleansing the hair without stripping it. I also like the packaging, since I`m at the point where shampoo is running low, and I like how I can store the bottle upside down - this may seem silly, but it`s something I like since my current favourite shampoos (Dove and Tresemme) are missing that option in their design lol.
Next, in the conditioner. I like how the conditioner comes in a tube. I really love my Dove conditioner that has similar packaging, since it is much more thick. However, this conditioner disappointed me. It was a very runny formula - probably runnier than the average conditioner, which I didn`t like. It did a decent job, but since it is so runny, I feel like it requires more product to do its job. The conditioner is running out a lot faster than the shampoo.
Last, comes the curls cream. I was really thinking I would like this product, but I was severely disappointed. Im pretty much married to my Noodle Head Curl cream since it has such a smooth, weightless texture, and this did not compare. This almost felt like a cross between a gel and a cream, as it is very heavy and sticky basically the opposite of my Noodle Head. It doesnt even have the texture of a cream, and being so sticky, it doesnt distribute well in the hair, at all! I havent learned how to use this product yet. I know some curly girls have lots of success with gel, but I have never been able to use it without that crunchy feel.
Overall, I had high hopes for this line of products, but I doubt I will be buying it again. The only thing I would consider repurchasing is the shampoo, since it is pretty affordable for a sulfate-free shampoo.
