A few weeks ago I purchased my first ever Dior make up product. I opted for the Diorskin Forever Wear Invisible Retouch Powder as powder is something that I use constantly throughout the day for oil control on my combination skin.
What Dior claim:
The 1st invisible pressed powder by Dior which refreshes makeup in an instant and remains imperceptible even after several touch-ups, for a fresh and matte complexion all day long. Its ultra-fine and transparent texture immediately becomes one with foundation without smudging it nor changing its color, and extends foundation hold for 4 hours. This powder contains ingredients that protect the skin and help it to protect itself against external factors such as pollution and free radicals, for comfortable and flawless stay-true beauty throughout the day.
Size: 0.49 oz/12 g
At £30 it is the most expensive powder I`ve ever bought and I`m glad to say every penny was well worth it. The compact comes with a little sponge (softest thing ever!) and a cute little pouch and even includes a pretty huge mirror.
The powder comes encased in the prettiest compact. Navy, with a reflective CD logo, it looks super sleek. But unfortunately, it is also a fingerprint magnet. Very sturdy packaging but it can also feel bulky and might be a pain for some to carry around. Dior were kind enough to bring out refill pans too meaning you don`t have to repurchase the whole thing again!
Although this is supposed to be a transparent powder, it is available in 3 different shades: 01 Transparent Light, 02 Transparent Medium and 03 Transparent Deep. Transparent Medium is the perfect shade for me and my NC25 skin with it`s golden hue.
A quick point: it doesn`t change your foundation shade at all and doesn`t provide any coverage either. It is merely just a blotting powder and can also be used to set any foundation, concealer, etc.
I generally prefer using loose powders for setting my foundation but I wanted to test out the claim about making your foundation last 4 hours longer so I switched to this as my finishing powder and as a finishing powder, I wasn`t super impressed. I did find that I didn`t have to blot as much throughout the day and it did seem like my foundation was prolonged just a little bit but I certainly prefer the look of a loose powder.
However, as a retouch powder, it is a completely different story. This is hands down the best touch-up powder I have tried. It doesn`t cake at all, no matter how many times you blot throughout the day or how much you apply, your face will still look flawless. Blot once, and you might not even have to for the rest of the night. I`ve personally endured a 10 hour day where I just set my foundation with this and I didn`t reuse it again at all that day. There was a tiny bit of a sheen to my face, but it didn`t look greasy at all, it just looked a little bit dewy. That is how wonderful this powder is.
The Dior Forever powder doesn`t give a completely matte look, it lets your skin look natural yet still oil free, and doesn`t leave your skin looking flat in any way. This powder won`t give you any coverage either, it is, as I previously stated, purely just a blotting powder which can also of course be used to finish off your make up!
This is hands down the best powder I`ve tried. Thankfully, I never even have to worry about looking really oily anymore because I know I can rely on Dior to deliver! It is a steep price but I think for such a great quality product, it is definitely worth it. From personal experience, nothing else compares to this and the greatest thing of all: it hasn`t broken me out AT ALL. What a wonder
