This post is about a dinner that I had during my vacation, you see I still have a few post to catch up on. We went to The Hartwood Gourmet & Grind which is a newly opened restaurant that is quite popular at the moment. Sometimes I look restaurants up on foursquare to see some pictures of the food and recommendations. This place here had mostly bad comments saying that the food was expensive but didn`t taste good. I definitely disagree with that, in my opinion the price was normal. Not significantly higher than other restaurants and the taste was good as well. Guess there are just some people who try to create a bad reputation... :/
Now let`s talk about the food! I ordered Fish & Chips that were supposed to come with mashed peas but like you can see on the picture I got regular peas, which wasn`t a big deal. I was pleased anyway that there were some veggies, because you usually don`t get that with fish and chips. I received two large pieces of beer battered fish so the portion size was definitely big enough, just would have been better if there were more french fries. Like you can see I only received this small tub but they were really delicious. To go along with that I added the juice from the lemon slice and the tar tar sauce.
For an appetizer we ordered Spicy Calamari which I loved! Here we didn`t get the usual calamri rings but those kind of twisty things (don`t know what you call them) made from another body part! :p They were seasoned nicely and came with Spicy Mango Tar Tar sauce! I loved those flavors combined, definitely a great appetizer.
My boyfriend ordered Grilled Ribs that came with a bunch of side dishes. Like you can see there was this little vegetable broth, rice that was beautifully shaped into a pyramid, krupuk chips and also sauteed water cress. I tried a bit of the meat and is was really tender. The portion size was big so my boyfriend was definitely full after finishing this dish.
