Dinner: Stir fry steak in a cream sauce

This is what I made for dinner tonight. Let me start by saying: yes this looks repulsive and like something a child spewed out their rear (lovely image for a food post, huh? HAHA!) BUT, it tastes REALLY good! If you can get past the appearance, the flavor is worth it.

The original recipe calls for a good cut of steak to be used, but I chose not to do this for two reasons. One, a good cut of steak, in my opinion, is ruined if anything other than grilling it is done to it. A good cut of steak doesn`t need sauce or anything. Two, the cut was expensive and for money saving reasons, I chose to use the stir fry steak. SO much cheaper and can be stretched further.

So, you take the strips of steak and put them into a slow cooker. Sprinkle with some pepper, to taste, and a can of cream of mushroom soup, a can of evaporated milk, and a packet of dry french onion soup mix. Put the lid on your slow cooker and let it go on low for 7-8 hours. The longer you cook it, the more tender and delicious!

For the sides I chose a french loaf and some rosemary roasted red potatoes. The french loaf was simple. I actually just bought one of the Pillsbury bake rolls.

The potatoes were also a simple job. I just cut them up into bite sizes and tossed them in a bowl with a bit of extra virigin olive oil, garlic, salt, and crushed rosemary. Then I spread them out on a baking sheet and put into a 350 degree oven for about 35 minutes.

I ate mine as you see it in the photo. My husband made a bed in the bottom of a bowl with the potatoes, then a couple slices of the French loaf and then covered everything with a healthy spoonful of the slow cooked meat/cream sauce. Everyone enjoyed it...but we all agreed the meat portion LOOKED gross. :-)
