This is what I made for dinner last week (the week before?) I had wanted Asian lettuce wraps for a while and finally decided I`d make my own since the ones at the Cheesecake Factory are just NOT worth the obscene calories associated with them.
I started off by browning up some 93% lean ground beef and diced white onion in sesame oil and a dash of olive oil. I then added in some minced garlic. When done, I then added in some sliced and diced canned water chestnuts and some sliced scallions. I then added in some hoison sauce, soy sauce and oyster sauce. I tossed it all together and when done I put it into a serving bowl.
As sides I had Boston lettuce leaves for stuffing, shredded cabbage (really bagged coleslaw mix), bean sprouts and shredded carrots.
This was REALLY good! The meat was so flavorful and different. For lunch the next day, I used some iceberg lettuce and mixed it with the Boston lettuce, topped it with the meat and veggie toppings and used a little Asian sesame dressing and ate it that way. Both are equally good and tasty.
Have you ever had Asian lettuce wraps?
