Last Night I went out to dinner with my cousin and a mutual friend of ours. We usually hang out and go to dinner every other Monday. We fell it helps us with the Monday blues lol.. They decided to go eat to seafood at a place Ive never been to and Boyyy let me tell you it was Poppin!!
We went to Mariscos El Veneno Venom Seafood thats located on Chicagos south side neighborhood. Upon entering the place was not packed since it was indeed a Monday. The waiter told us to sit anywhere wed like. (I doubt that happens on weekends) There was a norteno band already playing so I knew I was in for an interesting night.
I decided to order camarones a la diabla (Deviled shrimp) and my cousin and friend went for the Langostinos. Once the order was being placed another waiter came and brought us a tostada de ceviche which I guess is part of the order.
There seem to be a birthday celebration because the music started up again and vibe of the place got everyone moving. Mind you there werent that many people there but since its a BYOB place I know knew why they were so extra cheerful.
Then my food arrived my reaction was; Eso es mio! (Is that mine??!). The waiter just smiled at me because as you can tell from the picture above its a huge plate! After all I had finished my tostada de ceviche so I knew this was going to be a Mission. The plate had of course the shrimp, rice, salad, fries and a piece of bread with butter. The shrimp was good but not as spicy but it still had a good kick to it enough for me to reach for my horchata (rice water) to drink. The fries were cooked well, and well I dont usually it bread with my shrimp I made an exception. Needles to say I did not finish my food, I only ate half of the food. To go it had to be!
I will be going back there again, the atmosphere is great even for a Monday and well I hope my Mondays continue like Last night.
If you are ever in the Area, they have 3 locations throughout the city: Ukrainian Village, Brighton Park, West lawn.
