This week was an exploration week in terms of recipes and food for me. I wanted to make the popular foods I always eat at restaurants at home to see if I can make it taste the same or better.
This was one of them. My inspiration came from the Korean beansprouts that they serve for side dishes.
After washing the soy beansprouts, I boiled them in a mixture of water, salt and sesame oil. The salt would help make the beansprouts cook faster and to help give them more flavor. The sesame oil was there to help coat the beansprouts so they remain moist inside.
Once they were boiled for 15 minutes, I drained them and used cold distilled water to rinse them. Once they were rinsed, I put them in a large mixing bowl and combined some salt, more sesame oil, some sugar and roasted seaweed and white sesame seeds and mixed them together. This would create a nice taste balance for it =)
I still can`t get it as sweet as the ones they serve in a Korean restaurant but this was a nice starting point. I added the seaweed in because I liked the texture of seaweed.
I also made of corn and carrot soup for dinner as well.
What do you guys think?
