BBQ Pork Buns, or Cha Siu Bao () is an amazingly popular Hong Kong bun. They are usually served at Dim Sum or bakeries.
They`re my favorite type of savory buns due to the sweet and savory flavor with the chewy pork.
There are two types of BBQ pork buns, one that is steamed which is most common, and ones that are baked. You can tell the baked ones because the bun would be brown rather than white.
The bun is made with rice flour. The BBQ pork filling inside is made of pork tenderloin that has been marinated for days. Then it is put into the rice flour and steamed with sauce. This makes a very fluffy and soft bun with lots of flavor inside.
The one I ate had honey inside making it sweet =)
Have you guys tried this?
