This here beauty is Sicilian pizza from a local pizzeria Leones Subs & Pizza in Somerville, MA.
My aunt actually introduced me to this pizza a number of years back because her husband grew up in Somerville and always frequented this joint. Their pizza is a thick crust Sicilian style pizza. If you go in around lunch time Monday thru Friday, they have a number of different flavored pizzas for sale by the slice (or tray). Typically during the work week they have spinach & garlic, tomato & basil, pepperoni, cheese, and buffalo chicken. They will make you a half a tray or a tray of any of these flavors on an off day if you call ahead and ask. I can vouch and say that all of the flavored pizzas they sell are fantastic! Yes, I have had all of them and not all on the same day, over time. My favorite slice? The spinach & garlic because it has a TON of fresh spinach on it, large chunks of clove garlic and a ton of fresh mozzarella cheese on it. Its not pictured because I went well after lunch time and this is all they were serving and I didnt want a half tray.
As you can see from the picture the cheese is ooey gooey and just deliciousness. Depending on your hunger, one slice can fill you or be the footing for a second slice. I typically order 2 slices, eat one there and take the other home to eat later on. Or when I end up with a number of slices, they end up in my freezer because they freeze very well and reheat with ease in the oven.
Their slices are $1.75, which isnt bad at all for what you get. They also sell an array of subs both hot and cold, but their Italian is phenomenal.
Yes. Im a true foodie at heart .
