Being blessed with oily skin and even more oily eyelids, an eye-shadow primer is not an option for me, its a must. Without using a primer my eye-shadows last for literally half an hour before the oil takes over. That sound gross, I know.
I havent used many primers in the past, but the ones I have used didnt do much for me: Soap and Glorys eye shadow base, which had many positive review on http://Boots.com. However in my case the most it did was make the eye-shadows I wore on top appear more vibrant for an hour, on a good day. The next one I used was the infamous Urban Decay primer potion. I received a decent sized sample of this, when I bought the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette earlier this month. This also disappointed me and lasted for around 3-4 hours before showing major signs of creasing.
I honestly thought there was no hope for me, in terms of the lasting power of whatever I put on my eyelids. Miss Glamorazzi on YouTube, also like me has oily eyelids mentioned that the only primer that works for her was the NARS Eye-shadow base. I was quite hesitant about buying it though because it costs a whopping £18! A few days before my prom I rushed out and bought it. The next day I put it to the test, I was going out with a friend I hadnt seen in a while and we were planning to go shopping and have lunch, we had a pretty long day together. Around 12 hours later I came back home and noticed before removing my makeup, that my eye-shadows looked pretty perfect and showed no sign of creasing. It was a miracle! I have been using it every day that I wear makeup and Ive still had positive results.
A mix of polymers and mineral-powder establishes a firm grip on colour ensuring hours and hours of gorgeous wear. Nars claims that it extends the wear of eye shadow and maximizes colour intensity- and I completely agree.
