This is a dinner I had last week which was all made in the crock pot -- with the exception of the bow-tie pasta. I started off by browning some lean ground beef until cooked and added that to my crock pot, along with some diced onion, minced garlic, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, spicy Italian spaghetti sauce seasoning, and oregano. I then added in some pre-cooked, heat and serve, sun dried tomato al Fresco chicken sausage, covered it up and let it simmer up on low for 7 hours. The sauce tasted fabulous after cooking all day long, the flavors meshed together well and it was just quite yummy. The sausage was soft and had soaked up some of the sauce. I served it over bowtie pasta because there is no other way to eat meat sauce (okay, that is outside of just meat sauce in a bowl with a stick of italian bread). Overall this was quite a delicious meal.
Have you ever made sauce in the crock pot?
