When you own a business, no matter what type it is, you likely have a ton of supplies. Whether you`re stocking up on food items, pens and paper or school goods, you need somewhere to put it. When you don`t have a lot of money to spend, consider these ideas.
Storing at Home
If you`re the owner of the business, you should be able to store some of the supplies in your home. Keep it secure in a locked indoor closet or similar space. You should also keep records of what you have in your home, when it leaves and other important inventory details. This option costs you virtually nothing to implement and maintain.
It seems like a pretty basic and simple idea, but many people tend to overlook it. You`re so used to the racks and rows of items in the storage unit that you forget about these plastic storage bins. These are particularly excellent for soft items, such as towels or pillows, because you are able to fit a number of them in there without compromising its the quality, look or feel of the product. When you fit items into more compact spaces, you can easily double, triple or quadruple the remaining room available.
Many communities have storage units or lockers that people can rent out. If there isn`t one in your exact town, look to a nearby community that has a lot of businesses in it. These lockers can often be obtained for very low rates such as $1 per day. You could use them as a temporary solution until you have more space in your main facility. Otherwise, you can continue to use these units and lockers to keep extra items all of the days of your business.
Any business is liking going to have a lot of files. Old fashioned folders and filing cabinets can take up a lot of space, although they do provide the hard copy you need in the event that the computer crashes. However, if you`re really in need of some extra space, consider converting all of the files onto a disk. Make sure that these disks stay in a safe place and that you always have backup files!
Finding new storage solutions for your business doesn`t have to break the bank. Just think outside the box a bit to find the plan that works best for you.
