Hello fellow Designers! So I told my friend that all Christmas gifts last year would be as homemade as possible, so for me that means creative. I asked her what she needed, she said a new coffee mug because she knew I could make something out of that. So I go an idea that i saw online with a coffee mug covered in coffee beans, and of course I could make make a replica of that... so I did! Mug from the 99cent store and a bag of whole coffee beans - it took several hours to glue all of those beans on but my final product turned out pretty cool. The original cup I found has beans all the way to the lip of the cup, but I thought that might not taste good to drink from so I lowered them and left lip room.
Right as i was going to wrap it up, I thought, she needs something to sit this on, so I went through my scrap fabric and decided to make her a Mug Rug- a fabric coaster that can also hold the spoon. I used a green fabric that has foliage on it in brown and green for the front, and I found a scrap piece of denim for the back. I used a strip of denim on the front to make the spoon rest stand out. I put batting inside and quilted it down to give the overall rug a little more design and texture. I even put my label on the back (it says no label DESIGNS) I think it turned out pretty cute, now this I made in about 10 minutes and it completely finished off this homemade coffee set.
Now I warned her, I don`t know if you can submerge this mug in water but it`s worth a handwash I think!
What do you think? Do you guys like the set?
