These are some of my makeup brushes that I just cleaned/washed/disinfected. I use to buy the makeup brush cleaner from MAC (the pink solution) but it was too pricey and I didnt even think it cleaned well. Now, I use a simple mixture of Dawn Anti-Bacterial dish soap with a touch of olive oil. You basically dip your dirty brushes in the mixture and start swirling it in the palm of your hands. You`ll instantly see all the makeup and dirt come off in your palms. Rinse with the bristles facing downwards while the water is running from the faucet. Lay flat on a clean towel and let air dry overnight. This simple and inexpensive way truly deep cleans your brushes.
Now, I wanted to quickly go over some of the brushes. I have different brands (some not pictured). The ones here are from MAC, Bobbi Brown, ELF, Sonia Kashuk, NARS, Chanel, Sephora, Rock & Republic, Estee Lauder, Benifit, and Essential Beauty.
The Chanel one is one of my fav for blending and I used the Sonia Kashuk for my liquid foundation (my new fav is from Real Techniques, not pictured). My NARS blending one is another favorite. The Bobbi Brown blush brush was a total splurge (over $50) and it was only decent. IN MY OPINION, one of the worst brushes (in the image) are from MAC (surprised???). I hate the 129 (sheds like crazy) and 242 (bristles are too stiff and rough). I think MAC brushes are over-rated but some are good for the money. I havent gotten around to trying Sigma brushes yet but MUST get my hands on the F80 Flat Top Kabuki soon.
