What`s the one color you`ll see everywhere during this time of year? Red for all the decorations and the green flying out of your wallet as you`re paying for Christmas presents. Lol. Anyways, I wanted to play with some holiday colors for eye looks and got this. In the picture it looks like red and black, but in real life there is a layer of dark green over the black. Hard to pick up on camera but you can definitely see it in person.
I feel like for brighter colors like reds, you have to use a pigment type shadow. The reason for this is because the color pay off is so much better and much more vibrant. For this eye look, the red I used is a pigment called Rust from NYX. I got the color a long time ago when I had an obsession with those NYX pigments. To make the color even more vibrant I apply it with a brush that`s wet. I don`t mean soaking wet. What I do is take a drop of water, the smallest drop of water and then dip my brush into it. Then I dip the brush in the pigment that`s stuck to the containers lid and pat it on my eyelids. Very simple and looks gorgeous.
What do you think of reds for the holidays? Is it overplayed?
