So it was my good friends 20th birthday last weekend, and we decided to throw him a tiki themed party!! so I was in charge of making the cake :) tropical flavored! :D so I was looking around online for good tropical cake ideas! and if you look on google i found this totally beautiful cake (the first picture)!
but i live in a state that has almost no good tropical supplies, unless i order them online, and that was going to take too long, and many of the tropical fruits (like the starfruit) even if i can get a hold of them are disgusting, look wrinkly, and are not fresh. so mine did most definitely not come out as beautifully as my references did. but I`m hoping if I bake long enough a couple years down the road it will!!
I will most certainly be making this cake again! It has the perfect texture the mouse makes the cake super moist, and the vanilla and chocolate genoise layers were superb! but we had the party 1 day after I was done with finals, so I only had that one day to make the cake, and let it set in the fridge, so there wasn`t much decorating time (only an hour or so before) but it was still a hit! :) the pity is that it was too small! :D not enough cake haha
the last picture is the picture posted by the blogger Tartelette who posted the recipe that I went off of (I have posted the source link)
I hope you guys try the recipe! It is fantastic! Do you have any other good tropical cake recipes? Any ideas on getting good fresh supplies? websites with good prices?
