Ingredients for Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix Cake
For this recipe, you will need:
1 2-layer devil`s food cake mix
1-1/3 cups water
1/2 cup safflower or peanut oil
3 large eggs
1-1/3 cups heavy cream
1/4 cup unsalted butter
16 oz. semisweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.Combine the cake mix, water, oil and eggs in a large mixing bowl, and beat with an electric mixer until smooth and well-combined.Now pour the cake batter into two greased 8-inch round cake pans. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Now heat the cream and butter in a medium saucepan until the mixture comes to a low boil. Add the chocolate, and stir with a wire whisk until the chocolate is fully melted into the cream mixture. This is called a ganache. Set it aside to cool for 20 minutes. Now line a 9-inch springform pan with waxed paper. Cut the cooled cake into cubes, and transfer them to a large mixing bowl. Now pour 1-1/3 cups of the ganache mixture over the cake cubes. And beat with an electric mixer until the texture becomes like thick fudge. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared springform pan, and press it down with a spatula. Freeze for 1 hour. Now unmold the sides of the pan. And flip the cake onto a serving plate. Remove the springform pan bottom, and peel off the waxed paper. Now you can use the remaining ganache to frost the cake. And here`s your chocolate cake mix fudge cake.
