After reading so many food posts from fellow Luuuxers on Chinese pastries, I was on a quest to seek some baked goodies. I haven`t been living in my new city for long, so I went on Yelp in search for a good Chinese bakery. Last Friday, I had plans in downtown Seattle and Chinatown wasn`t far from where I doing my errands. Therefore, I venture to the bakery and picked up three items. By the time, I arrived the bakery was slim picking. From what others say, this bakery only bakes their goods once daily and they always run out of the popular pastries. I was able to get their popular cocktail bun, plain pineapple bun, and steamed rice cake. This was my first time trying a cocktail bun, and boy, it was delish! This bun has coconut filling topped with seasmes seeds and the yellow topping used for pineapple bun. It was really good. The bread wasn`t too sweet or too dry. It was just right. The next time I go to Mon Hei bakery I`ll load up on their cocktail buns.
Sorry for the blurriness of the photo. It didn`t dawn on me to take a photo until I wrapped the buns up.
Have you tried a cocktail bun before? What are some of your favorite Chinese pastries?
