As a child, my family and I would often go to Sacramento to visit our extended family. One of the best things about the trip was eating till our stomachs exploded. So the first things we ate in the morning was chinese bread sticks with some rice porridge/congee. If you want to eat it as a sweet dish, we would dunk it in some fresh soymilk.
It might sound weird to some people, but it is one of my most missed things to eat in Cali because it`s made fresh everyday down the street from my grandfather`s house. But the other day my boss (who owns a restaurant) had these in her freezer so she fried these up for our dinner. Of course, it wasn`t homemade or fresh, but it definitely brought back a lot of my childhood memories. It`s very difficult to make on your own so it`s hard for me to purchase fresh ones where I live.
What`s your favorite childhood snack?
