DineLA is back! If you don`t know what DineLA is, then you can check here for more info: http://discoverlosangeles.com/restaurantweekv2/faqs.html. You should definitely check it out if you`re in the Los Angeles area or can get to the Los Angeles area :) . On Wednesday my friend and I decided to eat at
Chaya Brasserie in Beverly Hills. It`s Euro-Asian cuisine. On DineLa this restaurant is $$ which means lunch is $22 and dinner is $34. It`s a fusion restaurant. There`s a lot of French and Asian influences in the dishes. I took a quick look at the regular menu and there are items like calamari, but done with a Japanese/Asian style. There`s sushi, but then there`s also risotto. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal and it`s a place that I plan on going back to so that I can sample some of the food on their regular menu. We ordered from the DineLa menu so it`s like a prix fixe menu. Each person gets a choice of one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert.
- Wedge salad, poached egg 63, bacon bits, bagna cauda dressing - Baked goat cheese, onion/beer sauce, castelvetrano olives, sourdough toast
I ordered the wedge salad and I thought it was okay. To me it wasn`t anything special, but the good thing was that everything was very fresh tasting. I also really enjoyed the dressing. On the other hand, I really enjoyed the baked goat cheese dish that my friend ordered. I would call it a deconstructed onion soup. So delicious! Entrees:
- Venison meaballs sandwich, green peppercorn slaw, parsnip puree - Spicy moule et frites portuguese sausage, shallot, parsley, Chaya fries
I ordered the moule et frites which is mussels and fries. According to my friend, who`s been to France, it`s very European and French. It was was served in a pretty big stone pot. Inside the pot there`s mussels, shallots, and sausauge in a soup. The taste was really delicious and flavorful. The fries tasted really good dipped in the soup. The fries were exactly the way I like it: very crispy. Desserts:
- Chaya chocolate cookie - Chocolate croissant bread pudding
The cookies were chocolate chocolate chip cookies with pistachios. My friend really liked it. She said the cookies tasted really fresh and the chocolate chips were stilly gooey. My order of bread pudding was freaking amazing! It also came with a scoop of dulce de leche ice cream on top. The choice of croissant for the pudding was genius; I loved it! Besides the DineLA menu we also ordered a few items from their regular menu. Arare Calamari with Spicy Miso Dressing:
This dish is absolutely delicious and highly recommended! We all know the fried calamari dish, but this one was done a little differently. Instead of the typical breading, they used a rice cracker type of breading on the outside. It made each piece very crispy and light tasting. The squid was extremely tender and cooked perfectly. It`s probably one of the best cooked squid I`ve had. The dressing was also really good; it reminded me of a sweet and sour sauce with a hint of spiciness. Guava Lemonade & Mango Lemonade:
We each ordered a lemonade and it was delicious. I had the mango one and the mango tasted very fresh with slight tartness from the lemons. It`s a bit thicker than regular lemonade because mango has a thicker consistency, but I think that really added to the overall flavor of the drink. I would highly recommend the lemonade drinks. They have a few other variations. Have you tried any of the restaurants on DineLA? Any recommendations?
