In the cellars of Murganheira, Portuguese know a sparkling quality, fresh and aromatic, made with the best grape varieties and inspired by the French method. Integrated into the wine region-Varosa Tavora, the cellars of Murganheira were founded in 1947 and annually produce about one million bottles of sparkling wine. For its production are best used grape varieties and foreign nationals as Malvasia Fina, Gouveio Real Cerceal, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Noir. The harvest is done manually, which allows a good selection of grapes. It takes three years for the maturation of the sparkling period of time they spend in the cellars, bottles carefully aligned in the "glass walls" about three high. It`s worth a visit for the originality of the place, once they are excavated in rock of blue granite, constituting an ideal environment for the conservation of champagne.
