one of my clubs on campus hosted a bake sale this past week for breast cancer awareness month. instead of being boring and making cookies, we decided to make something more fun... and thus we made cake pops!
okay, i wasn`t actually a part of the making process. i helped with decorations though. from what i heard from the other club members who baked, they used cake mix to bake the cake in a regular pan and then mashed it up with some frosting. then, they formed balls from the mixture and refrigerated them to set.
what i did was melt some regular chocolate and add fun sprinkles. we probably should have used dipping chocolate, which sets faster, but dipping chocolate also costs a lot more. we ended up just using pound plus bars of trader joe`s chocolate and then setting the chocolate in the freezer.
we made about 400 and they were a smashing success! even though they took quite a bit of work, i`m glad we chose to do something different. and all of it was for a good cause ultimately so it was worth it :)
