Cake Moist orange and almond
Try this delicious cake moist orange and almond syrup. Great for an afternoon tea.
200g caster sugar
finely grated rind and juice 4 eggs
Orange and almond cake 50g plain flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 250g of semolina 200g ground almonds 120g Greek yoghurt syrup: juice and zest of 2 oranges 2 cinnamon sticks 275g Sugar
preparation To make the syrup place all ingredients in a saucepan with 500ml water and bring slowly to boil, stirring until all sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and cook until syrup consistency, about 10 minutes. Preheat the oven to about 160 ° C. Grease a cake pan with butter. Beat butter, sugar and orange zest until pale and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Sift flour and baking powder and stir into batter. Add the semolina and almonds. Add the orange juice and yogurt and mix gently. Pour into prepared pan and cook for about 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center. Remove cake from oven and punch holes throughout the cake. Pour the hot syrup over hot cake. Allow to cool. Drizzle the cake with the remaining syrup and serve.
