I`ve done a post on the original Cadbury Creme Egg (which happens to be one of my favorite candies EVER), but I will say this is the first time I have tried the Chocolate Creme Egg variety. I admit I went into this kind of with a stuck up nose. I love the original and I feel as though the others just don`t live up to it. I`ve tried the caramel before and it was alright, but nothing like the original. So while at Walmart a while ago I grabbed a box of the original and decided to give the chocolate a shot, well, really my boyfriend wanted to try them and I said I`d try one but if I didn`t like it, he`d have to eat the other 4 (hah, compromise?).
I was kind of in the munchy sort of mode. I wanted something sweet, but wasn`t sure what I wanted so I grabbed the box of eggs, opened it and took two bites and gave it to my boyfriend. They`re good ... but like I`ve said above, NOTHING like the original. I will say this though -- in my opinion Cadbury makes some of the best milk chocolate. The egg shell is delicious. The chocolate creme does nothing for me. I envisioned a richer creme, but it`s rather .. blandish. I think they took the original "yolk" mixture for the original egg and added cocoa to it. It`s not ooey gooey, it`s a little stiff but soft (if that makes sense).
Would I be repurchasing this variety? Most likely not. But I will be trying to make homemade creme eggs since I stumbled upon a recipe on pinterest.
Have you tried Cadbury`s Chocolate Creme Eggs?
Do you like any Cadbury chocolate?
