Trying to get back on a healthy track can be extremely difficult. Its hard to just cut every type of food you love right out of your diet and put new items in. What I am doing to get back on track is incorporating some of my favorite and healthiest foods back into my diet. These are foods that are some of the healthiest for you and that can be eaten so many ways. Im not a nutritionist by any means but I do my research and like to share with you my progress! These are foods you should slowly get used to eating because they have so many benefits. Its not always about counting calories its about putting healthy food in your body.
Avocado: Avocado has a ton of fat. But dont be scared when you hear the word fat. Avocados are full of healthy fats that actually BURN fat! Avocados also provide your body with energy while burning fat.
Chick Peas: Chick peas are something I love to toss into salads. If you arent familiar with chick peas, its just what hummus is made of! Chick peas are low in fat and high in protein. Perfect for a snack or to add to a meal.
Greek Yogurt: I love to start my day out with Greek Yogurt. It is low in calories and high in calcium. Greek yogurt is also fat burning and super high in protein.
Salmon: Salmon is definitely something you need a good recipe for. Salmon is one of the best ways to get your omega-3s. Omega-3 fatty acids make your metabolism burn fat faster and more efficiently.
Kale: Kale is something that took me a little while to get used to. I try and put some kale in my salads because even though it doesnt taste amazing to me, it is such a great super food. Kale also boosts your metabolism and can even reduce bloating.
Lemon Water: Water is crucial for a healthy lifestyle. Theres no reason we should be drinking pop or sugary drinks instead of water. It keeps you hydrated, energized, and even keeps your skin clear! Drinking water truly makes a difference in your day to day life. Adding a lemon is even better. I think it makes the water taste even better. Lemon is good for your skin, energy, stomach, and immune system.
Almonds: Almonds are my favorite nut! Pretty much all nuts are a great healthy snack. Whats great about almonds as a snack is that they reduce cravings. Almonds also have healthy fats that help you build muscle.
Quinoa: Quinoa is the best grain out there. If you lack protein this is the grain for you. Quinoa is packed with more protein than you can imagine! Replace rice or pasta with quinoa to make it a super meal.
Strawberry: Strawberries are one of my favorite fruits! All fruit is great for you for different reasons. I find that fruit fills me up really quickly and stops my cravings. Fruit is also great for a dessert because it has that natural sugar. Fruit and veggies should be in your everyday diet!
