I made Budae jjigae at home the other day. My friend ordered this at a restaurant once, and it was basically korean instant noodes plus spam... which did not seem worthy of being a restaurant dish lol. I bet Korean restaurants make so much profit off of people who order this entree!
Here`s is wikipedia`s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Korean_dishes) definition of the dish: "Budae jjigae (, lit. "army base stew"): Soon after the Korean War, meat was scarce in Seoul. Some people made use of surplus foods from US Army bases such as hot dogs and canned ham (such as Spam) and incorporated it into a traditional spicy soup. This budae jjigae is still popular in South Korea, and the dish often incorporates more modern ingredients such as instant ramen noodles."
I just cooked a pack of instant korean noodles, chopped up some spam and threw it in there. This is definitely junk food and spam is pretty sketchy but sometimes you just need something salty and spicy and this hit the spot!
