The arctic city of Tromso in Norway exists in a state of complete darkness for weeks every winter, so it`s understandable that the beginnings of light are celebrated. The Tromso Northern Lights Festival, Nordlysfestivalen to the locals, runs roughly from November 21st to January 21st, during which time the city`s population swells substantially. Viewing the spectacle that is the Aurora Borealis from Tromso is made especially special as this is surely one of the friendliest places on earth to take in the eerie, otherworldly aurora.
Have you ever seen the aurora borealis and is it something that is on your bucket list?
