The gym at my condo has been slowly adding more equipment in preparation for the phase 2 residents to move in. One of the equipment we got was a freestanding punching bag =D

That`s awesome news because a few months ago, I was debating whether or not I should buy a punching bag for my home.

Boxing is a great exercise that helps tone your abs and arms. It also provides a great cardio workout depending on how fast your punches are and the movement of your body.

Fun fact - Candice Swanepoel, the Victoria`s Secret bombshell, incorporates boxing as part of her regular exercise routine too!

An important lesson I learned was to wear gloves. The first day I tried it out, I scratched off the skin on my knuckles because I didn`t have gloves. So I bought a pair of UFC Gel padded gloves to absorb shock.

Always remember when boxing to keep your body tight and compact.
When punching, strength comes from the slight twitch in your abdominals. This gives you more power than straight punches and it helps to work out your abs.
Keep your thumb outside your hand at all times to avoid breaking it.
Posture and aim before speed. Hitting the bag with at a wrong angle will cause damage to your hand.
