Birchbox August 2012

*Images are my own. Please do not take.*

I know it is already September, but Luuux has been annoying with the adding pictures to blog posts lately. Birchbox has been stepping up their game over the summer giving out really great boxes. I decided to give Birchbox another chance after I cancelled my subscription after receiving my first box in May with their Gossip Girl collaboration. I had high hopes for August since June and July had really great boxes.

My August`s birchbox was bleh. At least this time around, I was given a couple of makeup samples unlike my previous box. I was not estatic nor was I disappointed. Not only that, but shipping took forever as it was shipped on August 13th and I received it on August 27th. Seriously, it took two weeks to ship a small box? As soon as I received it, I opened it and was please with the presentation of the box except the box`s contents. Not only that, but one of my makeup remover q-tip sample wrapper was tampered with! Talk about being unsanitary! Anyways, the theme of this month`s box is Beauty School. Here are what I received and its corresponding values:

Beauty Fixation makeup remover 3 q-tip samples - $0.63 (each was $0.21, although full size was $5 for 24 q-tips)
theBalm Stainiac sample - $2.27 for 0.04 fl oz. (full size $17 for .3 fl oz.)
Sumita brow base - $11 full size (never heard of this brand nor do I know how/what to use it for?)
Viva La Juicy La Fleur perfume sample - $1.40 (full size $70)
Lifestyle Extra is Larabar uber sample - $1.8 each (full box of 5 bars $9)
Pamphlet of beauty tips/tricks with supply kit of samples listed on back (I am more intrigued to read this than the samples...haha brought out the nerd in me)
Total Value of the box: $17.10 ...basically the box paid for itself and I am pleased with that just not the samples

I am subscribed for September, but it will be a make it or break it month before I decide to cancel again. Either that or I will just cancel and resubscribe whenever I feel like the coming month might be an awesome box...kinda like playing Russian Roulette! It`s either I save my $10 or spend it on Birchbox whenever I`m in the mood for a pick me up.
