Hello everyone! Let me start off by saying that I`m sorry about the bad picture quality. These were taken with an old digital camera, at night, and I was able to enhance them just a little with iPhoto. You can find a better picture of the full-size product at: http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/product/view/the-porefessional
I received this sample size in my December 2011 Birchbox, and while I was not happy with the box as a whole, I was happy to get this product because I had been looking for ways to even out my skin for a long time. I had bad acne in my early teens, and continue to deal with combination skin (and the occasional breakout) to this day. Years of excess oil production has stretched my pores out to the point where it`s impossible to cover with just a foundation, so I`m always on the hunt for new products like this one to help minimize the appearance of pores.
This primer is a light tan color, and it doesn`t feel like anything I`ve ever used before. It starts out looking like a thicker, dryer version of a foundation, but as you smooth it over your problem areas it feels like a velvety powder. I`ve heard people say it has a "pearl-like texture", which means NOTHING to me, but whatever floats your boat I guess! This product is not designed to erase your pores or tighten them - it simply creates a smooth surface over your pores that allows your foundation to apply with a more flawless finish.
While I do like this product as a primer, I`d love to hear if anyone`s tried a pore-related product and has recommendations. Do you use a particular face wash or mask that visibly reduces pore size? I`ve also been eyeing a serum-like product by Clinique that temporarily tightens pores instead of covering them up. Anyone have experience with these kinds of treatments? Any home remedies? Thanks!
