i remember when i first started wearing makeup and eye primer was something i would never bother with... funny how things change! now i can`t imagine wearing eye makeup without a primer or base. i just can`t get the same level of color as i do without a primer!
i`ve tried a fair number of primers since i started wearing and collecting makeup, and hopefully this will help those of you out there who are still primer shopping, as well as those of you who are looking to try something new :)
URBAN DECAY PRIMER POTION: probably the most famous eye primer. i didn`t try it until i got my naked palette and i actually didn`t even use my little mini bottle for a long time. i will admit that it`s quite awesome but i could never justify spending nearly $20 (tax included) on an eye primer. my eye makeup stays the best with UDPP but i don`t think i`ll repurchase a full size unless i can get one for a good deal.
BENEFIT STAY DON`T STRAY: i`ve had this tiny little tube for a VERY long time and it still hasn`t let up. it was very wet when i first opened it and it`s now a lot drier. it`s the most liquid of my primers and spread very easily. a little dot goes a very long way! it doesn`t make the color of my shadows pop very much though. it does extend lasting power but not by much. i will not repurchase a full size.
BENEFIT CREASELESS CREAM SHADOW: this wouldn`t be considered a primer and would instead be considered a base. either way, i really like it! i have mine in RSVP and it`s a mini from a little sample set benefit did a while back. it`s a lot like the mac paint pots. i like how you get color but you can also wear it alone. these don`t crease on me but creasing isn`t a problem for me 99% of the time. these last forever! i have the same thoughts about this as i do for the next product...
MAC PAINT POT: mine is in soft ochre, which is just a little lighter and a little more yellow than my natural skin color. i really like this because my pot will probably last me FOREVER and it works fine everyday. it evens out my eyelids with a nice layer of color and i feel like i can just wear it alone and add some winged liner on a lazy day and be done with my eye makeup. as a primer, it makes my shadows pop! however, lasting power isn`t extended for too long.
ELF EYELID PRIMER: I LOVE THIS STUFF. FOR $1, YOU CAN`T BEAT IT. i can`t recommend this primer enough! i know it`s hit and miss but it has that same silicone-y feeling as UDPP and it makes my eyeshadows pop and it keeps them on; maybe it won`t keep my shadows on as long as UDPP but it definitely helps. and the price?! AMAZING. i adore it! i always have backups and i mean ALWAYS!
i hope this was helpful :) let me know what you`re favorite eye primers are as well!
