After weeks of rumors surrounding The Bachelorette`s Emily Maynard and her Fiance Jef Holm, it has now been confirmed that these two have ended their engagement.
Surprised? No...i`m not! Emily and Jef confirmed the split to People magazine and both issued statements. In short, Emily states: "I am sorry to tell you that Jef and I have, indeed, parted ways, "It was a very difficult and heartbreaking decision." "I have nothing but respect and love for Jef and his family, but ultimately we are just at different points in our lives."
"I`ve learned so much and I`m grateful for all of the support I`ve received. I`m excited and hopeful for the next chapter in my life with my daughter, Ricki. I do hope that you will respect our privacy and allow us the time we need to heal."
Jef expressed the following statement: "Emily will always have a special place in my heart. I don`t regret a single second I spent with her or Ricki. They both have been a huge part of my life. Who knows what tomorrow will bring but we are moving on to the next chapter of our lives."
There were a lot of rumors surrounding Emily`s behavior and conduct during their short lived engagement and that she is not much of a goody goody as she would like everyone to believe. There were rumors that she was exchanging explicit text messages with Oakland Raiders quarterback Matt Leinart and that Jef caught her during a vacation with Jef`s family. Whether or not these and the countless other rumors are true, hopefully Emily`s daughter Ricky will readjust to another man exiting her life. This was Emily`s second attempt at love. However, to me it always seemed that Emily was more interested in fame, fortune and being on tv than really wanting to settle down, get married and have more children. She is only 26 with a 7 year old daughter, so maybe she is just more interested in dating, which is fine, but she should do that away from the limelight and should not subject her daughter to another round of reality tv.
Wishing these two the best of luck. So far the Bachelor and Bachelorette franchises have not produced many successful relationships. Just last week it was announced that The Bachelor`s Ben Flajnik and his fiance Courtney Robertson ended their engagement. Only the first bachelorette Trista Rehn made it down the aisle and has been married to her chosen, Ryan Sutter for 9 years in December. The couple have 2 children. It was also recently announced that The Bachelorette`s Ashley Hebert will possibly be the second one to make it down the aisle, ABC will broadcast her wedding in December to J.P. Rosenbaum.
