My August Julep Maven box arrived at my home on monday. This time, instead of the usual black box, it was a lovely pink box! They were celebrating their 1 year as an online subscription service, so the theme was a bit festive. Inside the box, everything was wrapped up with white glitter paper. As you can probably tell from the first image, they had a lot of metallic and chrome polishes in the different profiles. I, again, decided to go with the It-Girl box. A fun little extra that everyone received this month is a tote bag. It isn`t anything special, I`ll be honest. However, it was an added freebie and I know it will come into use at some point. I can always use little bags like this. It isn`t very large. I`d say about half the size of the average recyclable grocery bag that you can buy for something like a buck at most stores. It is black on the front and back and hot pink on the sides with the logo. On the front it has their name, website, and logo. On the back it says Beauty is about connection, not competition. As usual, the It Girl box came with three nail polishes. The first one is Sienna. To me it looks like a very, very pale gold, perhaps leading to a taupe. Its quite interesting. Next is Melanie, which appears to be a medium metallic blue. Finally is Harley. Harley seems to be your typical metallic silver. It is appropriately named, though. I picture the motorcycles when I hear Harley. Harley Davidson motorcycles = lots of chrome on the bike..... Harley = liquid silver polish... see where my mind goes? Since there have been some past issues with the brushes in the polishes, I definitely opened these up right away to check. Thank goodness, in this batch all of the polishes are perfect. No wonky or splayed out bristles. So far so good in this box. From a first check over, everything seems to be in order and nothing messed up. Of these three colors, I am most excited to wear Sienna. It seems like a nice summer to fall transition color (even though we are technically still in summer). I am very much so ready for the brights to be put away and some tamer colors to make their appearances. I`m probably alone in that, though. If you are interested in becoming a Maven, I`d appreciate if you`d sign up through my referral link. You can also get your first box for a penny if you key in code COLOR2012 at checkout.
