August Birchbox

If you`re not already familiar with, it`s a monthly subscription service that sends you 4-5 deluxe beauty samples (plus a lifestyle extra) every month for $10 (shipping is included in that price). Sometimes you`ll even receive a full-size product. One of my favorite features of is their points system. You get points for filling out a short survey for each sample you receive and you can use those points towards full-size products in their shop. I redeemed my points before for five Zoya polishes and only ended up paying forty cents! Normally the outer packaging is pink, but this month it is a school bus yellow/orange for back to school time. The theme is Beauty School Supply Kit. Going along with this month`s theme, Birchbox is donating 15% of proceeds from the to Pencils of Promise during August. The samples are always packaged really nicely with tissue paper and ribbon. Picture five shows what my box looked like after I removed the lid. You normally only get a flat card that tells you about the theme of the box on one side and the contents on the other side (similar to the Pencils of Promise card above), but this month they included a cute card that folds out and has information on both sides. They have the contents of the box listed as a supply kit this month.
What I received:
Deborah Lippmann the Stripper to Go: I got two packets of nail polish remover mitts. I plan to try these soon to see how well they work! It`s $12 for a pack of six, so these are worth $4.
Eye Rock Designer Liner: Honestly, I probably won`t even use these. My eyes are kind of small, so I`m not sure if these would work well for me. I think just using liquid liner would be easier. I was actually glad that I didn`t receive these when they sent them out the first time around. It`s $13 for two packs of four, so this pack has a $6.50 value.
Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy La Fleur Perfume: I usually don`t like receiving perfume samples, but I`m kind of glad I got this one because I have the original Viva la Juicy, so I`m interested to see how this one compares. A full size bottle is $70 for 2.5 ounces, so this sample is worth $1.40.
Pixi Beauty Lip Blush in Happiness: This is a full size product! I actually already wore this yesterday and I liked it. When I took it off after wearing it for about five hours, it was still going strong! This is $18.
Schick Hydro Silk Razor: This is just the lifestyle extra for the month, so I`m pretty impressed! I will definitely use this. They also included a couple coupons with it. The value of this box is $29.90, which doesn`t include the lifestyle extra! That`s basically three times the price of the box, so it was definitely worth the price. Overall, I`m very pleased with this month`s box. The only thing I`m not into is the pack of Eye Rock liners. If you`re interested, you can sign up for the box You can cancel at anytime if you`re not into it. I`ve been subscribed since December 2011.
